Company

BlueSky Talent

Background

BlueSky Talent emerged from a deep passion to continue to work with my long time best friend and work colleague Kathleen. In June 2007 BlueSky Talent emerged after lots of different conversations and connections. The company we both worked with, Inspirational Coaching International, refocused and relocated to it’s Canadian base.

By coaching each other, we were quickly able to answer initial questions … what made us want to start business versus securing employment; why together; what benefits did working together bring; where would we work; what would be the purpose of our business; when would we start and the questions continued- what would be our unique selling point; what would attract people to create and co-create with us? From the outset Kathleen and I came from a non-judgemental place, with trust, respect and listening.

The possibility of acquiring office space within close proximity to where we both lived, helped immensely in our quest to start our company. Each meeting gained new momentum and engaging with friends and colleagues was invaluable. The securing of our first project sealed the decision that BlueSky Talent was alive and kicking. What equipment would we need and why, where would we purchase. Each and every time it was the relationship we struck up with people made those difficult decisions easy and helped our company emerge. Contracting with others and ourselves made the steps easier to climb. A recent supplier stated that he would welcome the opportunity of working with us and was more interested in a long-term relationship, than short-term gain. Creating in partnership and coaching relationships continue to be a strong part of our ethics.

What Inspired You To Go Into Coaching?

I was introduced to Coaching on securing new employment with Inspirational Coaching International back in 2000. IC International from the outset created an environment to take me beyond my current ways of learning, knowing or being and helped me to see differently and become aware of new choices available to me. It is a way of being rather than another better way of doing things.

Certificate in Professional Development in Inspirational Coaching - University of Strathclyde

Specialist Areas of Coaching

Coaching is a part of my being, my daily life and work. It is not a switch to turn off and on for me. Inspirational Coaching others allows the time and space to look and listen inside, exploring their desires and wants for life and work, taking ideas and thoughts from insight to action. Working in partnership with clients, they are able to focus on what is important for them. The focus for my coaching is to help clients investigate and identify their specific needs, gaining a solid understanding of their requirements.

Greatest Coaching Moment

As well as working in a coaching organisation, being a team member of the coaching programme Destination Coach I have many memorable coaching moments. By creating space and holding that space coaching can be transformational, it can awaken an idea or train of thought, discover and unlock the potential within a client, whether coaching in a scheduled session or chance meeting, with family, friends, work colleagues and clients. Coaching has the power to change lives and I see that happening time after time in one to one coaching sessions and on Destination Coach. My first coaching session, took place on Findhorn Beach and I was later told “without doubt the coaching session that you gave me at DC1 was one of the most influential I have ever had the privilege of receiving”.

What Is Your Vision For Your Coaching?

Life is a journey and being a coach can sustain, fulfil and enhance the paths we choose throughout our lives on our personal journey. My personal vision remains to continue the inspirational coaching that was awakened in my head, heart and soul whilst working with IC International. My own development grows with age, experience, current learning, coaching others and being coached. My vision is through coaching and working as business partners with clients, they are able to continually refocus on what’s important to them and their business.

Philosophy

Work hard ethics were inherited from my family values. My own core values guided my decision to work in partnership, working close to home and now in environments where I can continue to personally learn and grow, inspiring others to embrace coaching and be a coach themselves.

Client's Corner

Ted Gordon, Manager, Document Services, Standard Life Employee Services Limited.

Standard Life 'By using a range of coaching tools and techniques I'm spending more productive time with my people. I now better understand their strengths, through having more effective development conversations, and I feel much better equipped to help them realise their full potential as leaders within their own business units. I have also improved my own leadership capability, helping me better cope with the fast moving change environment within my organisation. And it's been fun!'
